- Matanuska-Susitna Borough may have home occupation zoning requirements. The borough is largely rural and unincorporated areas may have minimal zoning. Incorporated areas (Palmer, Wasilla) would have municipal zoning rules. Alaska state business license required from the Alaska Dept. of Commerce.
- Home kitchen:
- Alaska's 2024 Food Freedom Act (HB 251) replaced the prior cottage food law. Producers can sell almost any type of homemade food including perishable foods, eggs, kombucha, fermented foods. No annual sales cap. Indirect sales to retail stores allowed. A business license from the Alaska Dept. of Commerce is required. Prohibited: homemade dairy products (milk, ice cream, cheese, butter), seafood, oil rendered from animal fat, alcohol, cannabis, game meat. Perishable foods cannot be sold via third-party online food hub marketplaces.
