Pets in a microbakery kitchen in Anchorage Municipality?
The homemade-food exemption does not mention pets; Anchorage and some municipalities write their own kitchen rules.
Cottage path first — then any inspected path
Cottage / exemption path
AS 17.20.332–338 (HB 251, 2024) exempts qualifying homemade food from state licensing and inspection. The statute does not require pets out of the dwelling or a separate room.
Inspected or home-bakery path
The Municipality of Anchorage and some other local programs can add kitchen standards that the statewide exemption does not.
County or program note on file
Children and pets must not be in the kitchen during cottage food preparation (per MOA cottage food license requirements)
Use the 2024 homemade-food statute, not the older 18 AAC 31.012 cottage-food option, unless the producer chose that older path.
